Hey Just found your blog through An Apple a day. Loving it so far! I just wanted to say I feel your pizza dough pain. I too had the same experience with my Jamie Oliver Pizza Dough. Somehow you feel way over confident in yourself when you start this recipe. My well broke and the liquid went everywhere too! I also didn’t have quite enough ingredients as the recipe stated but I continued on and the dough turned out fine. They should put a disclaimer at the bottom of the recipe!

I wanted to take a big bite of that pinchy crusted pizza!

You kill me – that was the PERFECT description of a kitchen disaster. I’ve made many a paper towel moat in my day. I’ve also had to fly a burning paper towel airplane style from my stove to the sink before the kitchen bursts into flames. Is there a book there? Paper Towel Crisis in the Kitchen?

I think we’ll all be cooking more when the summer vegs start coming in. Right now, it’s peas peas peas lettuce peas peas arugula peas, and an occasional fava bean.

Not that I’m one to complain about peas, but I’m getting the tomato jones…

And yes, I think if you have the urge for an out-of-season eggplant, your body needs it. Do it and enjoy it!

I haven’t been cooking anything magnificent for a while. Just the old standards. Maybe it’s yearning for spring and some new ingredients? The dough worked well! Congrats. I used to make my own pasta, too… used to.

I have a confession: I just got back from Whole Foods, where I bought out-of-season, non-local basil and eggplants, and I’m going to make some sort of pasta “alla Norma” with good canned tomatoes. It’s been a really long time since I gave in to the out of season urge but I figure if all I can think about is eggplant, maybe there’s some vitamin in there that I’m craving?

Oh the doldrums, yes! I’ve been trying to find some good “shoulder season” recipes – it’s too warm for braising but the salad greens aren’t out of the ground yet and it is tough to find inspiration. So far, that means a lot of soup.
